Former Strikeforce 145-pound champion Cristiane Justino will finally get to make her debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division, which was essentially created to accommodate the power-punching Brazilian. But it won’t be against Megan Anderson. That’s because the Invicta standout was forced to withdraw from her “Cyborg” fight due to personal reasons and was promptly replaced by long time veteran Tonya Evinger.
Justino will be ready and waiting:
“I’m prepared to fight anyone. As for the change in opponent, we can say it’s the result of Megan’s and her manager’s irresponsibility. As for Tonya, she’s a great opponent. She’s been winning her past 10 fights and is an example of how the world rankings should be independent from the UFC’s rankings. It will be a great fight and I believe that, with Tonya, it will be an even more exciting fight for the fans than the fight with Megan.”
Justino (17-1, 1 NC) will battle Evinger (19-5, 1 NC) at the upcoming UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place Sat., July 29, 2017 inside Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., though the bout order has yet to be finalized.
As we still notice UFC not wanting to give Cyborg any of their big names, we saw The Iron Lady let herself be stripped of the title so as not to face Cyborg, the top names in the female divisions in UFC who have thrown their hats in to face Cyborg have been overlooked, is UFC afraid? Let’s hope this division is now built and we see some classic fights, we await to see the outcome.
